The calculation

Every step shown, not just the total

Cash, gold by weight and carat, investments, money you lent out — less the debts that actually qualify. Priced the moment you calculate, and stored with the record, so last year’s numbers never quietly change.

Total assets£60,940.00
Less liabilities− £1,740.00
Zakat due£1,480.00

2.5% of £59,200.00 net wealth. A calculation aid, not a religious ruling.

Wealth that doesn’t sit in one country

Any currency, converted on the row
A current account here, savings abroad, gold that was a wedding gift. Enter each in its own currency; Zakati converts to yours and says so on the row rather than hiding it.
Gold and silver by weight and carat
Valued at the day’s spot price, with worn jewellery flagged according to what your school actually says about it.
Giving tracked across the year
Most people give monthly, not once. Each payment counts against what you owe, with a reminder on the day — so nothing is forgotten and nothing is counted twice.
Rulings

Never one answer presented as the answer

Forty-two everyday holdings — the house you live in, a workplace pension, crypto, money lent to a cousin — each showing where all four schools land. Zakati follows yours and says plainly when the others differ.

General information, not a fatwa. For your own situation, consult a qualified scholar.

What we can and cannot see

Zakati handles what someone owns and who they give it to. That deserves a plain answer rather than a policy nobody reads.
